The Nieuwoudt family has been farming on the Dwarsrivier farm since 1893. Winemaker David Nieuwoudt is the fifth generation of the Nieuwoudt family on the farm. The first wine-grape vineyards were planted on the farm in 1973 by David’s grandfather, Oom Pollie Nieuwoudt. Cederberg Private Cellar on the farm Dwarsrivier is the highest wine farm above sea level in the Western Cape and is the only wine farm in the Cederberg ward. It is a remote place and with altitude produces pure and refined Sauvignon Blanc.
