Founded in 1954, Adega Cooperative de Cantanhede is one of the most important producers in Bairrada, a coastal Atlantic influenced region. They produce authentic wines which also offer great value. With about 700 active associated wine-growers and harvesting about 6-8 million kilos of grapes per year, they are the biggest producer in Bairrada (representing around 40 % of the total production). This cooperative, which operates like a big family, is home to ‘Revista de Vinhos’ 2014 Winemaker of the Year: Osvaldo Amado.
